# Iris’ Guide to Words >[!NOTE] Found > This was located in a big messy pile of stuff that [[11.14 Iris|Iris]] gave to Shen which almost gave Shen a heart attack. This is probably one of the first things that Iris wrote by hand…paw. I have noticed that people say things in... _ways_. Often, the things they say aren’t what they actually mean. And I don’t entirely understand *why*. But it is something to do with *emotions* and stuff. [[11.13 Belaryl Horzza|Bel]] told me that writing things down helps. I don’t know if she’s right. But it’s fun to practice! I keep getting ink on my paws. Anyway here are some things I’ve figured out. ## Bel Words - **Elf**: November - **Goliath**: Skymender - **Male**: She says it like a bad thing but it just means boys. - **I’ll Stab You**: I’m sad. - **Tam’Mara**: just… [[11.11 Tam|Tam]] but it is special. It’s her personal name for Tam. If anyone else says it she gets mad. - **Anything with “Lolth” in it**: I’m *Mad*. - **Ay Naku**: November says it’s kind of Undercommon for “my mom”. Uses it when she is surprised. ## November Words - **Mine**: Tam - **Contact**: A special spell that connects an enemy to November’s emotions. - **Cutest best sphinx ever ever**: Me. - **I’m Fine**: I’m sad. - **I’m just tired**: I have that feeling in my chest like a howling swirling void and worry that it will destroy everyone I love. - **I’m sorry, Iris, I forgot to get you a present!**: I brought you your favorite cookies - **You have enough jewelry, Iris**: You are only getting one little bracelet and don’t tell Tam. - **What box? Oh, that box. There’s nothing in there. I mean. Just boring stuff. Like, um, socks**: This one is a mystery still. But whenever he says it Tam blushes. - **Hydration Therapy/ Extemporaneous Feline Refresh/ Celestial Being Tidying/ Brush-up/ One quick errand before cookies**: these all mean “bath” - **No**: - **To me**: Not while Tam can see. - **To Tam**: ask while blushing. - **To Bel**: don’t stab me. But still no. ## Tam Words - **No**: No. Unless she’s talking to November. Then it means “please make me” - **Convocation**: The worst thing ever. - **my Lord**: November but only when she thinks nobody else can hear. - **I think you’ve had enough**: don’t let me see it when November slips you another treat. - **We need a plan**: I’m going in alone and stabbing people.
